The Whiskey Forge is Staying Put

Well, I'll be damned.

Over the last few months, we've been gearing up for a move to Louisiana. Went house hunting, checked out local distillers and butchers, scoped out local banks, talked with area employers (in person, by phone, and by video conference), and everything else it seemed a responsible adult needs to do when relocating.

Then, after a year or so of pursuing a position here in San Diego — mirabile dictu — one opens. A weekend of fast-n-furious negotiations and here we stay.

Naturally, I'll miss spending as much time in Louisiana as I expected — and I'll still spend a fair amount of time in New Orleans — but San Diego's not the worst place to find oneself. The photo? It's palm trees right outside the coffee shop I hit for my regular dose of tea in the mornings.

Nope. Not the worst place at all.

Must still feel kinda funny after all the advance labor, no?

Congratulations on the position--and the prolongation of the Endless Summer.

Yeah, it *is* an odd sensation, but a very welcome one. Louisiana's never that far away, though: just bought my plane tickets for Tales of the Cocktail last night. Ahhhh...nothing quite like New Orleans in July.
